Ministry Spotlight

Dear Church Family,
It is with sorrow and hope that we share the passing of a brother in Christ, Angel Fernandez, cousin to Jenny Thornton and nephew to Jesus and Olga Contreras. On Saturday, August 23rd, while enjoying an annual Church fellowship and ministering through an outreach at the ocean, Angel was called home to be with the Lord.
Angel’s life was a testimony of God’s redeeming grace. He grew up in Mexico and, during his teenage and young adult years, lived with his uncle and aunt, Jesus and Olga. It was during this time he began to learn about the Lord. Angel eventually went on to help start Capilla Calvario Rancho Libertad in Baja, Mexico, where he served faithfully as an assistant pastor.
Angel ministered in many ways—through the church, home building projects, and especially through his service to men in a nearby rehabilitation center. Every Saturday, Angel would lead men from the center fishing and swimming, sharing God’s love in both word and action.
Angel leaves behind his loving wife and three children—two daughters and one son. As a church family, CCYC wants to alongside this family in a time of grief & great loss. To help support Angel’s family, we are receiving donations. Contributions may be made online or by scanning the QR code below. You may also designate your gift with one of our church tithing envelopes.
We invite you to join us in prayer for his family, that the Lord would comfort them and provide for their every need. Thank you for your generosity and for being the hands and feet of Jesus in this season.
